Copenhagen practical course on biomacromolecules in solution studied with Small-Angle Scattering
January 17th-22th, 2010

Small-Angle Scattering is a well-established technique for the investigation of structures in the range of 1-100 nm. In the last few years, the technique has expanded very rapidly in the field of studying the structure of biological macromolecules in solution. We hereby announce the 2nd Copenhagen practical course on Biomacromolecules in solution studied by Small-Angle Scattering.
Key lecturers:
  • Dr. Dmitri I. Svergun, European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Hamburg, Germany
Prof. Jan Skov Pedersen, Dept. Chemistry, Aarhus University, Denmark
This 6-day course aims at young scientists (Ph.D. students and within Life Sciences. Basic theory of small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering including instrumentation, data collection and data analysis will be covered in the lectures, practicals and tutorials by some of the world leading experts in the field. As a part of the course, the students will perform SAXS measurements at I711 at MAX-lab in Lund, Sweden. Participants will be selected based on their applications.
Submission opened now. Deadline for application is November 15th, 2009.
When and where: January 17th-22th 2010, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Sciences and MAX-lab Synchrotron, Lund.

  • Dr. Lise Arleth, Dept. Natural Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life sciences,
Dr. Bente Vestergaard, Dept. Medicinal Chemistry, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
