Static SAXS samples and diffusion

#1 Post by SaxsCHESS » 2020.09.22 18:50

When collecting data on static (non-flowing) samples, radiation damage is obviously a problem. It has been common practice in the past to expose the sample, then wait for a time to allow damaged material to diffuse away from the beam path, then expose again.

Today, of course, we use flowing sample, but there are still specialized experiments, such as high-pressure SAXS, where sample flow is not yet practical to achieve.

Does anyone know of any references where this exposure strategy has been systematically studied?
