installing Crysol

#1 Post by chgupta » 2015.04.28 16:38

Hi everyone!

I am entirely new to this website. I am looking to install Crysol on my computer which runs Linux Mint 17, which is based on Ubuntu. I noticed there are two different Crysol versions for Ubuntu systems (and also one for Debian system). Any recommendation on which version I should download and install?

Thanks and regards,
Chitrak.

Based on a quick internet search it seems that Linux Mint 17 is based on Ubuntu 14.04, so you should first try the ATSAS package for Ubuntu 14.04

Thanks a lot for your help!

Are there installation instructions available? I downloaded the package, but trying to run the example gives the following error:

error while loading shared libraries: libsaxsdocument.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have checked, this file is there in the lib folder. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

The obvious is too simple?

Did you do anything between downloading the package and trying to run the examples? If so, what?

After untarring you should add /bin/ to you PATH and final subfolder of /lib/ to LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Easier would be to just install from the .deb (though you need libtiff4 for that, Google it).

Linux Mint 17

If you just need crysol - please install the package Ubuntu-14.04/ATSAS-2.6.0-1_*.deb. All command-line programs will work on Linux Mint 17 (but not the GUI programs; in my case it complains about missing libtiff4 and libqt4).

Thank you so much for the help! Installing the *.deb version worked!
