Dear Colleagues,
Today is the last day to register for the virtual SSRL/LCLS User Meeting that starts on Monday.
Please register. It is free. https://events.bizzabo.com/SLAC-UsersMeeting-2021/home.
The poster session runs 2 - 3 PM Central Time M-Th.
You use the gathertown software to participate.
Navigation of the poster session is like playing a 1990s
computer game. I was on the poster judging team. We spent this
week judging the posters virtually.
We made our selections today.
All of the semifinalist posters were excellent.
We awarded 7 prizes: 5 females and 2 males.
Please try to attend some of the poster sessions.
The workshop that I am co-chairing with Tzank Doukov of SSRL is Tuesday 10-2 CST and has the following speakers,
including two about SAXS:
Here is the schedule (times are pacific):
8:00 - 8:05 Blaine Mooers (University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center) - Introduction
8:05 - 8:30 Tim Gruene (Universität Wien) - Electron crystallography for X-ray crystallographers
8:30 - 8:55 Tristan Croll (Cambridge U) - ISOLDE: Bringing macromolecular model building to life (ISOLDE is used to improve Cryo-EM models)
8:55 - 9:20 Ellen Zhong (MIT) - Advances in heterogeneous cryo-EM reconstruction with cryoDRGN
9:20 - 9:45 Helen Ginn (Diamond Light Source, UK) - Vagabond: torsion angle-based refinement for structural biology (this is a radically different way to think about crystal structure refinement)
9:45 - 9:55 Break
9:55 - 10:20 David Case (Rutgers U) - Simulations and refinement strategies for biomolecular crystals
10:20 - 10:45 Doeke Hekstra (Harvard U) - Flexible tools for scaling, merging, and analyzing your diffraction data
10:45 - 11:10 Ivet Bahar (U Pittsburgh) - Efficient evaluation of structural dynamics and mechanisms of function using network models
11:10 - 11:35 Lois Pollack (Cornell U) - New computational approaches for interpreting small and wide-angle scattering data
11:35 - 12:00 Steven Meisberger (Cornell U) - Deconvolving SAXS datasets from evolving protein mixtures
Best regards,
